PERFORM-3D provides users with a sophisticated earthquake engineering
tool for static pushover analyses and nonlinear dynamic response history
analysis, while PERFORM-COLLAPSE aids engineers to model and analyze conditions
of “progressive collapse” or “disproportionate collapse”
in buildings. The software addresses areas of nonlinear analysis that
are undergoing significant growth in the building, bridge and infrastructure
markets across the globe. Initially, PERFORM-3D and PERFORM-COLLAPSE will
be interfaced to SAP2000 and ETABS as external add-ons, but in time this
technology will be seamlessly integrated into the CSI analytical engine,
SAPFIRE™, which powers all of Computers and Structures’ products.
In announcing the acquisition, CSI President Ashraf Habibullah said “We
are very excited to have Professor Powell join the CSI development team.
His Knowledge and Experience are a perfect complement to CSI’s Technology
and Expertise. With this acquisition, we are aligning developments that
will define the future of Practical Performance Based Design and accelerate
the adaptation of powerful Nonlinear Methods into the mainstream of Structural
Engineering Practice.”
A statement released by Dr. Powell said “I am delighted to be
associated with CSI, and excited by the opportunities. CSI has always
been a leader in structural analysis technology and I am impressed by
Ashraf’s commitment to keep that leadership. CSI has a terrific
group of people. I look forward to working with them to set the standard
for nonlinear analysis, and to bring it into the mainstream of structural
engineering.”
